    Bettie Jean Hurst, 87, of South Point, OH went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. She was born May 29, 1930 in Louisville, KY, a daughter of the late Louis C. Harrod, Sr. and Loretta Humphrey Harrod. In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald (Norma) Harrod and Robert Harrod and a sister and brother-in-law, Marcie and James Hurst. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Huntington, WV. Survivors include her husband, Daniel Duff Hurst, Jr. of South Point, OH; her children, Nancy Roach of South Point, OH; Michael (Robin) Hurst of LaGrange, GA and Kenny (Kim) Hurst of South Point, OH; two sisters, Shirley (Dan) Moody of Georgetown, KY and Donna Harrod of Lexington, KY; two brothers, Louis (Shirley) Harrod, Jr. of Lexington, KY and David Harrod of Lexington, KY; two sisters-in-law, Monnie Harrod of Lexington, KY and Ann Diemond of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Jennifer Mollineaux, Kelly Brunn, Daniel Hurst, Bethany Hunt and Matthew Hurst; and ten Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH on September 19, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM on September 20, 2017 at The Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, KY with Pastor Kenny Hurst officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
